Exploring new areas of development

Hey Internet,

I've been pondering about a career goals lately with all this uprising against Flash and I've decided to throw a few new languages under my belt. Specifically, objective C and java. Can you guess what for!? Well, mobile development for the iPhone and Android platforms. I'll try to catalogue my steps to gain these new skills in my blog, but you know how that goes sometimes. I'm hoping for the best.

As of right now, I'm watching the Stanford iTunes U podcasts for iPhone Dev, watching Lynda.com videos for iPhone dev, and following along with a Beginning iPhone Dev book. So, we can say I've jumped in head first. I hoping to find a simple project for freelance or even build my own game to ramp up on practical use.

As for Android dev, I've signed up for a live web lesson for developing for the platform. Hopefully I don't forget about it.

Stay tuned folks.

The less fat Greg

So, I've been on my wedding diet for almost 3 months. I'm super excited to say I've lost over 20 pounds (21.4 to be exact). Check out the face comparison (left one is 198ish and the right one is from today):
Fat Greg Less Fat Greg

Current Weight: 176.6 - 6.6 pound to go for my goal weight.

....I just wish I had the full body shot to see the gross comparison.

I’ve rediscovered YouTube

I was trolling YouTube, setting up my user channel, and found this video my Grampy uploaded. Now he's only knows about YouTube because I showed it to him and I never thought he would upload anything. But low and behold:

And then I posted a video response to it:

And Chris then catches wind of it:

I hope you got a laugh out of it like I did.

Greg North

48HFP Best of Boston Results

We were all routing for Best Of Boston. Sadly, The Lemonade Stand came up short but we did recieve other awards! Here's what we won:

The Lemonade Stand Awards

The Lemonade Stand Awards

We were all bummed to see we only got 3rd runner up but after the show plenty of people came to tell us that they felt the judges got it wrong. It's not about the awards, its all about making a film that people won. I mean, lots of great films never won any awards.

Anyway heres the other runners up and the winner of the Best of Boston:

2nd runner up: Sock Pox

1st runner up: High Noon, Oh Crap thats like 5 minutes from now

Winner of Best of Boston: Conversion

Holy Crap….48 Hour Film Project Best of Boston Screening!

48 Hour Best of Boston Selection Image

I forgot to mention here, that The Lemonade Stand is in the 48 Hour Film Project Best of Boston screening. That means we're going to win something!!!! Hopefully the "Best of Boston" title!

You should go to the screening and see all the other glorious films that qualified for the Best of Boston screening. In case your are horrible at searching for the correct time and place, it's at the Kendall Sq Cinema, Tuesday June 9th @ 7:30......GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The Adventuring Risk Takers

So Chris put together this quick tune in garage band and it inspired me to make this. Crazy? I think so. Anyways, we shot a bunch of green screen footage and some of it may suck because I'm lazy at keying and the lighting wasn't done properly. It makes me laugh. Hope it makes you laugh too.

We may even make this into a reoccurring web series thing. Depends on how well this is received.

Also this may be updated with different music and fixed footage.

Total Awesomeness

lazereyes

Here's a little taste of whats coming down the pipe. Chris whipped together some epic music that gave me a brain blast of an idea. We're making a TV theme intro and quite possibly continuing it as a web series. Good golly I can't wait to finish this and post it.....  IM ALL IN BUNCHES!!

The Lemonade Stand wins an Audience Award!

The Lemonade Stand was well received at the 48 Hour Film Project screening last Tuesday, was so well received that it won an audience award! It was really no shock, there were about 3 other films that stood out but our film glimmered in darkness that was that screening on Tuesday night. We put so much work into that film; the writing, the acting, the editing, the carrot juice...  CHEERS to DGSAAFBS and thanks to everyone who voted! Now all that's left is the main awards that are voted on by the judges. I have a good feeling.....Best of Boston HERE WE COME!!!

Here's the bootleg from the screening....just listen to the audience toss out ROFL Copters..

Do I really need to explain

Mamma mai!
