Ribbit Ribbit
March 8, 2008 – 22:58About two weeks ago I stumbled upon the BFPUG Blog announcing their speaker for the February meeting, Chuck Freedman promoting the new API for his company Ribbit. Ribbit offers VOIP through the flash player but packaged this service with an actionscript API for Flash/Flex developers to build off of and create some really amazing apps. There are a couple other services out there that do this but don't give an API out (Grand Central) and this is where Ribbit has the advantage. Not to mention they're offering a marketplace for developers to sell their applications to Ribbit members. Which is amazing.
Needless to say, I signed up right away for a developer account. I've had a ton of ideas for RIA's and widgets but I just can't fully conceptualize/prototype them due to my schedule. I showed Tim Allard the Ribbit site and API and he's really interested to get something started as well. We plan to have a brainstorm session soon, so I'm sure we'll come up with some outrageous and I'll blog about the process.
Stay tuned.
